Key supporters

The Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity, brings together clinicians and researchers from the University of Melbourne and the Royal Melbourne Hospital. Within this Institute are several key groups who work closely with the NCAS. VICNISS the nosocomial infection surveillance service and the Victorian Infectious Diseases Service are such groups whose work aligns closely with the work of the NCAS.

An important group who have helped to promote the translation of research findings to policy has been the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care (ACSQHC). Key pieces of work that is relevant to the work of NCAS have been development of the national accreditation standards for hospitals, the clinical care standards in antimicrobial stewardship and the publication outlining recommendations for antimicrobial stewardship in hospitals. The ACSQHC have also been a keen supporter of the National Antimicrobial Prescribing Survey (NAPS), which forms part of the Antimicrobial Use and Resistance in Australia (AURA) program.
