One Health

One Health

One Health is a concept recognising that the health of humans, animals and the environment are all unified. This approach utilises multidisciplinary expertise and resources in a coordinated and collaborative approach addressing the regulation and registration of antibiotics, through use of guidelines for infection control and the prudent use of antibiotics to reduce the threat of antimicrobial resistance in all sectors. There are several bodies within Australia that promote the uptake of One Health approaches to research and policy making, including the Australian Veterinary Association (AVA) and Public Health Association of Australia (PHAA) that have established Special Interest Groups (SIG).
