The National Antimicrobial Prescribing Survey (NAPS) is coordinated by a multi-disciplinary team at the NCAS and is delivered by the Guidance Group.

This survey has been in use since 2011 and has already helped hundreds of Australian healthcare facilities to assess their antimicrobial prescribing practices. It provides valuable information on the utilisation of antimicrobials within Australia and is endorsed by the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care.

NCAS Audits

The NCAS has created a range of detailed audit tools, each designed to assist with the auditing of antimicrobial prescribing with a specific focus.

These include antimicrobial audit tools, indication-based audit tools and quality improvement audit tools.

These audit tools have been developed by infectious diseases physicians, clinical microbiologists, specialised pharmacists and infection control personnel, and are designed to be utilised by auditors with varying levels of experience and in various settings, including acute care facilities, residential care facilities and in the community.
